A home is not a home without the right furniture to go along with it. You can make a home even more comfortable for the whole family by adding the right furniture pieces and creating a nice dynamic using various interior styles.
A New Room
Pillows, pictures, frames, ornaments and storage baskets are all other accessories that can be used to decorate the space in your room and are also a great way to keep your personal items in order.
Extra seating such as a vintage chair or a dressing cabinet are also great ways to add an individual touch to your personal space.
5 Top Tips to Make a Home More Comfortable
Uncategorized
A new property is very exciting and putting your stamp on it can really make it a home. Decoration is key to making a home your own and these are our five favourite ways to make our nests that little bit more comfortable for all within them.

1. Aroma. So we don’t all have the time to constantly bake chocolate brownies or pies or fresh bread so our homes can’t always smell as enticing as we might like them to but there are other ways around this. We find pot pourri to be quite dated and to be honest, bowls of the stuff just doesn’t appeal to us so we prefer to opt for candles and plug ins. Plug ins are great but often pricey so opt for scented candles if you’re on a budget. Vanilla is our all time favourite but you can opt for darker colours and more festive scents during the winter months.
2. Lighting. Lighting is very important in a home, glaring lights and uncovered light bulbs are big no nos. Candles and low lamplights are our favourite mood creating devices. They create atmosphere and a really inviting atmosphere.
3. Texture. Throws and cushions and plenty of them are a great way of giving a home that really cosy looks. They don’t have to be twee if you prefer the minimalist look but they make a sofa or a bed that little more inviting. Use a variety of textures to create layers of comfort.
4. Colours. Always use warm inviting colours rather than bright or harsh shades. Light colours create space and neutral colours will create an environment that people can relax in.
5. Accessorise. Photos are the ultimate way to make a house a home. They tell your story and are a constant reminder of your nearest and dearest. Photographs should be displayed in all homes. Mix and match frame sizes and styles and use flat space as well as the walls such as fireplaces or side tables to display them.
The Bedroom
Uncategorized
When deciding how to decorate your house, the bedroom is one of, if not the most important room to consider. Although your guests are more likely to see the lounge, your bedroom is inevitably the room that you spend the most time in. This means you should spend a great deal of time considering what you want from the room before making the decision, do this and you can have a great deal of fun decorating.

Obviously the first thing to think of (and the most important!) is the bed itself. You spend one third of your life asleep, on average, so getting a comfy bed in which you can get the perfect nights rest is imperative. There are loads of great retailers, both online and on the high street with fantastic beds for sale so shop around as much as you can and find the right bed for you. Don’t be afraid to go into shops and try out mattresses, everybody prefers a different one and there is nothing worse than ordering a mattress, it being delivered and turning out to be uncomfortable.
Another thing to consider when ordering your bed is storage space. Many of us have lots of possessions and storing them under the bed is a neat and simple way of ridding your house of clutter. If you care more about the aesthetics of a bed that is fine and lower beds can look fantastic in the right room. Just know that you will have to find somewhere else to put your stuff!
Another thing to think about could be an area to relax away from your bed. Spending a great amount of time in your bed other than when you are sleeping is not great for you and although not everyone can fit a double bed and a sofa in their room, a small chez longue or something similar may work perfectly. Adding variety to your house is important and this does just that.
