Beautiful walnut Renaissance Revival Victorian gentleman’s chest
Circa: 1870
Dimensions: 62.5″H x 39″W x 29.5″D
Finish: Good original
Beautiful walnut Renaissance Revival Victorian gentleman’s chest. It has seven drawers with book matched burled fronts. The cast brass pulls are not original to the piece but are from the period - probably replaced soon after the chest was originally purchased.
Originally, the chest had a locking mechanism. When the top drawer was closed it locked all the lower drawers. This is only partially working now - when the top drawer is closed it locks several of the lower drawers. The corners of the chest have three quarter round columns with burl at the top and fluting and carving underneath.
