- Antique Mahogany China Cabinet Secretary Desk Bookcase measures approx 62 inches wide, 85 1/2 inches high and approx 17 inches deep from the center.
Beautiful Antique Designer Inlaid Mahogany China Cabinet Breakfront Secretary Desk & Bookcase. This piece is a RARE FIND due to its size, age and beauty and was VERY WELL made and labeled by Johnson Furniture Co which prior to 1950 made some of the HIGHEST quality case goods the market had to offer.
This cabinet is a rarity with 6 beautifully inlaid and banded drawers which are all doweled and dovetailed together with brass pull handles that have a embroidery floral pattern etched into the brass itself. The top drawer folds down and opens to a beautiful desk with a nicely fitted interior and 2 small inlaid drawers.
The inside of the cabinet has adjustable shelving with grooves etched at the back of the shelves for plate displaying. The top has a BEAUTIFULLY carved crown with scrolled pediment with circualr fan inlaid motifs at each side and dental carved crown molding going throughout the edges.
Its made of a beautiful exotic naturally figured mahogany wood grain pattern as you can see in the pictures. The inside has the branded label of Johnson Furniture Co and the back still has its original tags of Johnson Handley Johnson Furniture Co in Grand Rapids Michigan.
This piece was VERY WELL made with quality that surpasses anything that is made today and all wood construction but Please understand that this is an antique and its all original so it has some minor imperfections on it with its age but overall this piece is in excellent shape.
