Fancy Walnut Victorian chest
Circa: 1860
Dimensions: 97.5″H x 49″W x 23″D
Finish: Good original
Fancy Walnut Victorian chest attributed to Mitchell’s and Rammelsberg, Cincinnati, OH. The base is all burled with serpentine front graduated drawers with race track moldings and fancy carved pulls - we have had very similar bases that have been signed by Mitchell’s and Rammelsberg in the past.
The mirror has a fancy open carved crest, raised burled panels (burl has been replaced), applied carvings, curved candle shelves with open carved supports, drop finials and four fancy “Hershey kisses” on either side. The very top crest has definitely been married to the rest of the frame. It is debatable as to whether or not the top mirror frame originally went to the base.
