Gorgeous Original Finish Quartered Oak Bookcase Roll Top Desk with the original “Macey Grand Rapids” label on the top. The bookcase section has two doors framed with delicately turned trim, one interior adjustable shelf and finished all around with picture framed bevel moldings with inset panels. Notice the fine quartered grain on the interior of the bookcase.
The roll has the original slats and moves smoothly to reveal a very fine, fitted original interior with little drawers, cubicles and pencil holders. The pull out writing slide can come to the front or off to the left, a most unusual feature. The are pretty carvings on the bottom doors with three drawers on one side and a slotted file section on the other.
The desk has all of it’s original lovely hardware with the exception of the lock plate on the roll which we replaced with an appropriate antique escutcheon. It is finished all around with vibrant quarter sawn graining. There is a small hole on the back (made by a previous owner for a wire) that we left as is. A useful and beautiful piece of original finish turn of the century quartered oak!
