Massive Horner Oak China Closet
Circa: 1890
Dimensions: 67.5″H x 56″W x 20″D
Finish: Good original
Fabulous massive quartered oak china closet attributed to R. J. Horner, NY. The top, bottom, and each glass is framed by an intricately carved three dimensional molding. There are full carved woman on each side of the front with a cluster of fruit.
The front sides end in well defined hairy claw feet. The large feet are carved with scroll and scallop shell carvings on both the front and back. The original side glasses have a pronounced “J” bend to them. There are four plate glass shelves and a mirrored back. A small crest board is on top. Originally a more elaborate carved crest was on top of that.
