Most Unusual Figural Victorian Rosewood Chest with the original white shaped marble top and matching mirror. The mirror cresting has wonderful openwork with griffin heads, berries, flowers and scrolling. The mirror supports are fantastic with fierce carved open mouthed griffins holding serpents in their mouths as prey.
The serpent tails curl around the supports! The chest features the original large oval mirror and an accentuated bowed base with the original lovely, large, wooden ring pulls. A couple small age stains on the marble surface. The case is solid and tight. The feet are nicely shaped and carved with leaves on the front and back. The wooden mirror supports are well turned and original.
