Rare early Victorian chest
Circa: 1850
Dimensions: 80″H x 43″W x 22″D
Finish: Good original
Rare early Victorian chest signed “J & J.W. Meeks, New York” on the inside of the top drawer. This piece has the original shaped white marble. The mirror has a fancy open carved crest and is suspended between two very delicately turned side spindles. There are five graduated drawers in the base with ring pulls.
The top drawer has some compartments in the front. The entire mirror frame, crest, case and drawer fronts are made of the most lovely figured walnut. This chest is superbly made. I show a photo here of the top under the marble - notice the quality of the construction.
