This gorgeous RJ Horner Hepplewhite inlaid mahogany secretary desk is the perfect workspace to furnish your little corner of the world. It came fresh out of a fine estate and dates from around the early 1900’s era.
A rare find made by R. J. Horner of New York. Horner is very well known for their high quality furniture and is sought after by collectors. If you were to buy a similar desk today from from a quality maker such as Kittinger or Baker you could easily spend upwards of $20,000.00+ We also have the signed RJ Horner Hepplewhite inlaid mahogany desk chair.
Both the desk and chair are listed separately for a 1 cent bid and NO reserve. Size always affects value. This desk is under 3ft wide and particularly desirable as it will fit more easily into today’s smaller rooms. Versatility is an important attribute of the secretary, which adds pleasing accent to a hallway, entrance way, office, den, living room, or dining room.
A gorgeous piece where you can get all of your papers, bills, letters, recipes, school report cards and everything else together in one place. The bookcase top has an inlaid mahogany crest with 3 brass finials above a pair of doors opening to shelves.
The shelf is adjustable and removable for both books and objects large and small. There is a locking key to lock up the bookcase. The desk has two tambour door sides that open to a fitted interior. There is a variety of small drawers, cubby holes, letter slots, and a central door with eagle and shield inlay.

The case has 2 large deep drawers for more storage all above long square tapered legs ending in spade feet with brass cuffs. Hepplewhite brasses, line inlay detail and flame mahogany graining enhance the bottom. It really has a great look and will add beauty to your home.
The desk is signed with the “R. J. Horner & Co.” on the top of the bookcase - only the better makers sign their pieces. Retains the original hardware. One piece construction. This desk is in very good condition, clean, original finish, and will be the perfect addition to your home or office.
