Solid Rosewood Rococo Victorian Dining Room Chairs
Circa: 1860
Dimensions: 48″H x 23″W (arm) 45″ x 20″W (side)
Finish: Good original
Description: Rare set of eight solid rosewood Rococo Victorian dining room chairs including two arms. This suite is attributed to Alexander Roux, NYC. Very similar chairs are shown on page 162 of American Furniture of the 19th Century by Eileen and Richard Dubrow.
These chairs have rope twist sides and an elaborate open carved back. The skirt and legs are also extensively carved. The carvings on these chairs are deep intricate and three dimensional. The chairs are extremely heavy as you would expect from solid rosewood.
The chairs are in good original finish and condition with only a few very minor repairs. The seats were recently recovered by the previous owner but could be easily recovered in the fabric of your choice for an additional fee.
