Antique furniture range is class apart

ONE_of Bahrain’s most unique antique stores is expecting a new consignment of refurbished wooden furniture to be shipped into the Furniture kingdom next week.

The Ivory store in Budaiya sells authentic Indian antique furniture collected from various locations across the subcontinent.

From historic homes to railway stations, disposed furniture which dates back more than 100 years are collected and refurbished.

The third consignment of goods will consist of a range of new additions to the store including a large dining table with 12 chairs.

Uniquely, the table has wheels on its legs which are shaped in the form of eagle talons clamped on a sphere.

Another unusual item is a bench with fluted legs and floral-carved designs alongside two chairs with Furniture arm rests.

A grand-looking teak wood swing with a sturdy base and pillar with intricate designs carved on all sides, including the canopy, has undergone painstaking restoration, starting with the chipping off paint which covered its beauty.

A desk with hidden drawers and cabinets is another interesting piece which showcases seahorse scrolls on four edges and the legs are shaped in the form of talons. A Victorian Sofa set with floral designs also sits pretty in pink.

The outlet also sells four-poster single beds, chairs, sofa sets, coffee tables, consoles, divans, drawer cabinets, cupboards, book cabinets, plant stands, storage chests, glass shelves, a ‘phone chair’ and an old wooden blade fan from Dayton Fan Company in Ohio.

The wood used for the Furniture products include rose wood, old Burma teak wood, camphor wood and mahogany.
