Creating Cool Furniture From Recycled Trash
My tastes in furniture run to the eclectic. From retro in one area
to more modern in another room, I decorate in a style that probably would confuse most interior designers. If I can combine a creative use with a greener sensibility in my rooms, I’m even more excited about it.
Designers have been doing some amazing things with items which would have ended up in a dump or a landfill. Instead of trash, these recyclables have become functional pieces to lounge on or to light your room.
Everything from bicycle tires to disposable ink pens to fluorescent light tubes, bathtubs and aluminum cans have been reshaped and reformed into pieces of fabulous furniture. Even old sports equipment has gotten a makeover with baseball bats and skis recycled into functional furniture. Some pieces have a futuristic vibe, while others take me back to days of yore.
