Furniture Brands to switch to operating company

Furniture maker Furniture Brands International Inc. said it is switching to an operating company model from a holding company structure and will move to a new world headquarters in Clayton, Mo.

After the market closed Thursday, the company said it will employ about 225 employees after the move.
Furniture Brands said the new headquarters located in a St. Louis suburb will provide 40 percent more space at a cost comparable to its former location.

The company said the new location will house about 150 additional employees.
