Redgrave’s furniture honour
The Achievements of Olympic medallist Steve Redgrave will be celebrated when one of High Wycombe’s leading furniture makers builds a chair in his honour.
Stewart Linford, a furniture craftsman, had wanted to mark the 2012 Olympic games with a chair incorporating Olympic logos and signage.
However, the idea fell apart due to a lack of cooperation from the games’ organisers.

Instead Mr Linford contacted Sir Steve, who lives in Marlow Bottom, with the idea of designing a chair in recognition of the legendary oarsman.
The five-time gold medallist was only too pleased to lend his support to the project.
Mr Linford, who owns a business in Kitchener Road, High Wycombe, said: “He was very keen. He’s a customer of ours anyway.
“He thought it was a good idea and he’s supporting it. It’s a chair in his honour - he’s our greatest athlete.”
The chair is decorated with depictions of athletes of ancient Greece, including discus throwers, archers and rowers.
The chair was displayed at the Stewart Linford factory showroom over the Bank Holiday weekend.
