Spring Air to move headquarters to Tampa

Bedding manufacturer The Spring Air Co. announced Wednesday it is closing manufacturing plants in Phoenix and St. Louis and relocating its corporate headquarters from Chicago to Tampa, a report in a retail trade publication says.

Furniture Today reported that about 122 positions are being cut as the company moves its headquarters to Spring Air’s manufacturing and service center in Tampa.

St. Louis manufacturing will be transferred to Spring Air’s Columbus, Ohio, plant. Spring Air’s Los Angeles facility will absorb much of the production from Phoenix.

Spring Air retained the real estate brokerage firm of Cushman & Wakefield to sell its Elk Grove building.

While the senior leadership team will move to Tampa, employees in marketing and sales support will work from a smaller office in the Chicago region.
