Logman Tenon Maker Kit

Logman Tenon Maker Kit Reviews: Works great, was making furniture 1/2 hour after opening the box and starting assembly. I mounted it on a length of 2×8 board which I then clamped in a Stanley portable workbench Stanley 93-292 FatMax Mobile Project Center 33-Inch Tall Clamping Work Bench and Hand Truck with wheels. Now, the whole rig rolls easily out to my driveway so I don’t bury the garage with wood chips when I use it. When done, I fold the bench with router and Logman kit all in place and stow it inside.

The only weak point I see are some of the setup and use instructions, but common sense and trial and error can make up for it. One hint I maybe missed in their instructions: to start a piece well and get a good, on-center tenon, they say to first taper the edges of the log, but they don’t suggest how. I found it fast and easy to hold the log against the router bit in the Logman, at about 30-45 degrees above horizontal and rotate it a few times, WITHOUT trying to feed it forward through the Logman.
Logman Tenon Maker Kit Reviews: Took some drilling on the base to set the router, and an adjustment. Made a perfect 1″ tenon on the second try. More adjustability than I expected, but hey, I can make 4 tenon sizes for less cost than 2 pincel sharpner type tenon makers. Easy to feed and little consern of the work piece catching and thrashing me. Fairly safe set up. I did have to hunt some extra bolts for the table mounting. The instructions are not for beginners. Smallest tenon is a 5/8 and I have found no offering for a 1/2″ tenon guide.

Logman Tenon Maker Kit Description: Rustic furniture making is becoming very popular, particularly in the rural or mountain areas of America. The basic joint for this type of furniture is the round tenon which fits into a drilled hole. Historically, these tenons have been made using a drawknife, spokeshave or chisels. The quality of the joint depended on the skill and patience of the maker. The Logman Tenon Maker is designed to produce tenons quickly and accurately.

The unit consists of a router and a carbide cutter for wood removal, a wood guide for centering the tenon and keeping the tenon to a uniform diameter, and a base for clamping the tenon maker to a workbench providing a secure, vibration free unit. There are 4 wood guides available for this unit and they are easily changed for making different sized tenons. The smaller wood guides have two to four different hole sizes where the larger guides only make one size tenon. Requires a router capable of accepting 1/2″ shank router bits (Router Not Included) Logman Tenon Maker Kit now includes 2 guides. One will make 5/8″ and 2″ dia. tenons the other makes 1″ and 1 1/2″ tenons.
